Thrifty Treasures Monday!

I wasn't planning on hitting any sales this weekend, but the boys talked me into it.
I actually picked this up two weekends ago and forgot to post about it.  It's going to turn Heirloom White pretty darn soon.  I'm all for olive green but this is a no go.
$2.00
A little topiary for my front flower bed
.50 cents
Large metal and wire antique bucket
$3.00
I love it.  I just have to decide where to put it.
Funny story when we made out last stop and I was down to $3.00 cash and that was it.  I saw a birdhouse I wanted and the boys saw an army tank and dune buggy.  Guess who is the coolest mom ever and made the sacrifice?

They wanted $5.00 for just the tank.

I asked "Will you take $3.00?"

The lady says to the man loud enough for me to HEAR...

"OH....just give it to her, they OBVIOUSLY don't have any money!
Here, honey (to the boys) take the dune buggy too."
Um...so I guess we *did* just roll out of bed and off we went, but I left a tad shocked, embarrassed and then thoughtful of a new shopping tactic...looking poor to get a deal!

Oh. My.
I think I would have pulled a $100 bill out of my pocket to pay with just to tick him off. I can't believe that!

I confess to being a sucker for garden stuff- so the urn and the topiary frame are really good finds! Too hilarious about the rude lady and her comment. Apparently you HAVE discovered a new shopping strategy- just remember to keep the "just rolled out of bed" look and take the kids w/you! LOL Thanks for the visit! I'm trying to visit as many people as I can. Hardly anybody comments at these parties anymore. I call it "post and run." :-(
Have a fun week. Sue

Holy Cow Woman! You've been to like half a dozen yard sales since the last time I went with you. I wake up ealier now so you should CALL ME!!! I'd love love love to go with you. I highly doubt you looked poor-but that sounds like something I would say and I totally wouldn't mean for it to sound so rude. Some people just have no tact (myself included).

I love it. I try to watch for those things, just didn't find those. I am so proud of myself though. I found three pair of gymnoree jeans and a shirt for my three years old, for $3!! YA, they look brand new! I also found 18 Junie B. Jones Books, great condition for $5.(That would have cost me over $70 to get them all.) Cars playmat, and brand new Dowdle puzzle( unopened) for $5 each. Great day for me!! Next time I'll find something prety for my house. Thanks for motivating me to go! I loved it!

Thanks for linking up to My Dear Trash. I love the antique bucket, urn and new shopping tactic- I'll have to use this (I've probably been using it all along as I roll right out of bed too!)
