When my brother and I were little my dad made us each a lapboard. It's just a thin piece of plywood, painted with felt on the back. Simple.
But the purpose was brilliant!
If we ever wanted to eat in the living room in front of the tv, we had to put our dishes and food on that to eat.
So no spills on my moms carpet!
(I should be so lucky!)
Santa brought these for the boys a few years ago...
You can tell Graham uses his the most. His is getting a little worn out and I had to re-Modge Podge it.
These are super easy to make as gifts - you can keep them plain or decorate them like I did!
If you add embellishments, make sure they lay flat and modge podge over them to protect them from food.
I also glue on a large piece of felt to the back to make it soft if they want the board on their laps and to keep it from sliding around.
You start with a rectangle a bit larger than a place mat. We rounded the corners on this one. Sand and smooth.
Then paint!

Oh, what a bummer. I just posted this same idea. Ohhhhh them's just jokes, lady! This is such a cool idea. I need one for myself when we're in the car. It's really all about me, you know?
I LOVE THIS IDEA!!! Did you use paint all over the fabric or are those decals? Hmmm...maybe you should sell them on Etsy. I would buy one-I mean 4:)
I love that idea!

What a cute idea. I love it! You could make a smaller one for the car too!
What a great idea! My kids would love these and it is actually just what I was looking for. Here's hoping that these will keep the messes to a minimum.
Thanks for the tutorial {and idea}.
Those are so cute & would make great gifts!
