Kelly is having a "Show Off Your House" type of party and today it is all about kitchens! And since I am a lover of all things real estate and interior design, I had to join in! I wish the kitchen above was mine. I love it. Look at that light! All that great room! So beachy, it is a room in the middle of the dry desert that screams California living. At least to this former So Cal girl. Sigh.
So this is mine! (Wrong again.) Just another one I took a picture of for when we design our dream home. Until then...we make do with this little gem below....Worst mistake I made as a first time home buyer? Getting the builder grade cabinets. I'm scared to paint them for fear that they might disintegrate.
I do keep a mean pantry though...my two boys are still little enough to think that cleaning it out is FUN. Who am I to ruin a good time?
And because of those two...these are my best dishes. Target tumblers are all the rage at our house. Someday I'll have my fancy things to show off but for now I'd rather look at the milk mustaches on little ones from plastic cups.
I do have my favorite plate rack. The one in the middle was a Christmas gift from my parents years ago. It still makes me happy to look at it. The ones on the side are Target. Good thing too because Graham was "helping" me sweep and he made the broom handle fly up and one little red plate came crashing down. He felt so bad...luckily they came in a set of four and I had a replacement waiting to fill the spot.
I love my Ballard chandelier and my black buffet too. This kitchen seemed huge to me when we looked at the model. Living in it I realized I needed all the extra storage space I could get!

OHHHHHH that first kitchen! Be still my *heart*. I almost have that in my home but I hate that I antiqued my cabinets. I like plain white so much more.
I wouldn't be afraid to paint the cabinets...just research to do it right or it will peel.
Your kitchen/great room is lovely and I always feel at home there!
Some day I'll have the kitchen of my dreams ... some day.
Love the tumblers ~ I remember when mine "claimed" theirs and so help me if I gave the wrong one to the wrong child.
Have a great weekend!

I love how open your kitchen is! Perfect for little helpers! I wish my pantry looked that good!
Great kitchen! I love the husband dish-washing accessory. Nothing better than a man who helps out in the kitchen!
I'm totally dying that you called your husband an accessory! LOVE it!
U may have far better luck than me!! i have black dishes too, and when the rub against another black object they scratch.love black appliances just not my table :(
Thanks for the tour...you have a warm, inviting kitchen! I like your "dream home pics" too! You have a beautiful family. Blessings!
I love how open your kitchen and front room is! That is one thing that has frustrated me about my house....hard to have parties since our front room is so small and cut-off from the kitchen.
Oh, well....at least I have my cute little house. :)
I love that you put up pictures of my dream kitchen! My dream kitchen looks so much different than the one I have now! Thanks for stopping by my blog too!
you and i so have the same taste on what our future kitchens should be. love the pics you found.
I absolutely love your kitchen. And it comes with "helpers"? How lucky are you?
Thanks for your comment on our blog. Come back to visit us often.

I love all your inspiration photos and yours too - so warm and cozy!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and actually commenting! We only bought our house less than two years ago with the intention that it would be an almost forever house. After having a child, I am realizing how much I miss being near my family and having some help. Your kitchen looks very similar to my previous kitchen. And, how lucky you are to have a kitchen accessory that does dishes.
What a fun idea! I am constantly wanting to see what everyone elses house looks like. I must say I think your whole house is darling. But I do know what ya mean about learning from your first house. With each house we've lived in I've created a list of things I never want to have in my next house...
Thanks for the comment! I wouldn't mind moving someplace cheaper if ALL of our family didn't live around us. Love your kitchen and the way it opens up to the rest of the house!!!
I need lessons in how to keep my countertops that neat!
I say go for it with painting the cabinets if you really want to. I was scared about painting ours, but it was SO worth it in the end.
