They were SO excited to open it! Turns out the elf is visiting us to make sure the kids are good. He goes home each night to report to Santa and then comes back the next morning in a new spot.
Meet Mr. Jingle (that is what the kids named him) He is our homemade Elf on the Shelf. He belonged to my grandmother and I couldn't bring myself to pay the $$ to buy the book. So I made my own kit for the kids. They had SO much fun this morning looking for him!
More sneaky peaky...
Today is my ONE YEAR blogiversary!! Awwwww. Can you believe how much we are still in love? Well, I am still in love with blogging. I am amazed at all the creative, talented and amazing women there are out there. Maybe a few men but I'm hoping they don't cruise by too often (except for Dan of course!)
Funny thing, he and I had our first date 8 years ago today.
Leave a comment on yesterdays or todays post and I will enter you in a drawing for one of my sad, oh, I mean FABULOUS tassels!!! (It's actually super cute!)
I'll let the kids draw the name tonight at bedtime and will announce the winner first thing tomorrow!!

Happy Blogiversary!!! Years from now, we can say that it was this blog that brought us together. I WILL win that tassel. It's not a threat or anything. I'm just sayin'.

No offense to anyone else-BUT I WILL WIN that tassel! And then I will find someplace wonderful for it and I will tell everyone I know that YOU made it! Happy Blogiversary!
I LOVE your Elf idea. I think I may have to do that for Brooke next year, I don't think she would get it this year. You are so creative!
I love the north pole package!!! My kids must get one too!!! Love it Love it love it!
I need an elf! What a clever idea. Your tassels are cute, hope I win!
Good idea at coming up with the Elf thing yourself..saving a lot of money. Cooper was up at 5:30 wanting to find the elf, dang elf!
Happy Blogiversary, seems like yesterday we were chatting about blogs and you were wondering what the heck they were.
I would love to win the drawing, maybe I will be as lucky as last time:)
I haven't brought myself to buy the Elf on the Shelf book yet...but I keep thinking I could use all the help I can get to try and get Graham to behave. Ha! I love that yours is homemade and vintage.
I love getting out my Christmas village. Your sneak peak makes me want to see more. :)
What a cute idea for the kids! I bet they were way excited!!
I left a comment yesterday but congratulations again on your one year mark!!!

Happy Blogiversary! I love reading your post and seeing your pictures! I've just recently started one myself and LOVE seeing all the creative and talented women out there in blogland!
Thanks for sharing!
Pick me, pick me, am I too late? So when you are done giving out your own prize come over to my site where I am celebrating my 150th post. I am giving away a great mystery gift that you will be glad you entered from, when you win......
Way cute idea, I'm sure they will love that! Your so creative!
Happy birthday to your blog! So silly me, I bought an elf this year and stuck it in my tree, but of course didn't have the creative gene to do what you did. No take-backs now that the kids have seen it! Did you say yours was homemade? I'm copying you & getting a new one. Great tradition! We'll see if it works for the 8,9 & 10 year olds!
Our Elf on the Shelf is named "buddy" after the movie Elf. Our kids love running around looking for him everyday too! : )
Happy Blogiversary Krissi!
