Aren't these garage sale signs the funniest? I love them.
The point is, I had my SECOND garage sale of the summer today chicas.
You must think that I love sitting out on a driveway and listening to people haggle over some piece of my unwanted junk that is marked $1.00. (HELLO people, it's A DOLLAR!)
The answer to that is not really. But some people in my mom's neighborhood were having some so we decided to mooch off of their hard work and signage. We put up maybe 8 signs ourselves. My mom put out a half a dozen things and I put out most of my children's toys.
Call me a mean mom if you will, but the basketball hoop (purchased at a yard sale for $2, sold for $5) GONE. Train table. GONE. Tool Bench with 800 pieces I picked up or stepped on daily - see ya sucker. All of Lauren's 0-3 sleepers and onesies that still looked they they belonged in the package? Snif snif....gone. At least I got to watch some cute pregnant moms walk off with great deals on those. I get so sentimental about clothes, not sure why!?
I didn't think I would have much success since I only made $100 at my May neighborhood sale. But thanks for an early bird or two - I cleared out all the big stuff and was left with hardly anything!! $149.00!!! Sweet. And my boys still have not noticed a singe toy is missing. Even better!
I decided GOING is so much more fun than sitting and selling though.

Great job on your tag sale!! I love those early bird signs. An organization DK is involved in held a tag sale yesterday from 9-3. Of course early birds showed up. They were welcome if they were willing to pay $3 to get first look and pick. I thought that was too funny!
I think going is much more fun. Some of my friends will tell me how they made hundreds at yard sales...I've never done more than $100 or so......Love those early bird signs! Jen R
Excellent work!! You've blessed your family and others.
Great job on your sale. I quit having them because they seemed to take on so much more work then what it was worth. My kids growth has slowed down thank goodness! Maddy wears her stuff till it's not fit for a resale and Kaylee's passes her goods on to her friends. Jesse hangs on to everything. Me!...well Im learning spraypaint can change the look on a lot of stuff. I do know how you feel about those baby clothes. I have boxes on top of boxes of baby stuff. Every bib...sock... church dress... hair bow... I just cant part with them... Maybe one day Granbabies may use this stuff. By that time it will be out of style, hehe.... I hope! Smiles!!!
I love your signs!!! I am cracking up though...you must be hearing things...Johnnie Cochran hasn't said anything in about three years :0)
I didn't make the signs - they are funny though aren't they!!! I found the picture on-line somewhere!
Your so cute!! If you ever need someone to sit in the blistering heat and watch people haggle over junk with-CALL ME!!! I have so much stuff I need to get rid of but lack the motivation and know how to put on tag sale myself! Go Kristen!!
Ugh, we are having a tag sale next weekend with a few other neighbors. I have a tons of "treasures" to part with, but I'm not looking forward to hanging out in the garage most of the day or, the shoppers who aren't willing to pay more than $.50 for an item.
Good job on the yard sale! Wish I could move some of this "stuff"!
I really need to do that! I have 5 months to clean out a guest room and make it into a nursery and it is making me nervous!!! I am glad you were successful!
I am so bad at those. I give the stuff away. I just cannot bear to haul it back in the house or to the Salvation Army so if there is interest away it goes.
One thing I do and I guess you call it mooching is I make Homemade Cinnamon Rolls and sell them to all those hungry early risers, at 50cents a pop I clean up and by noon I am about $30 bucks richer. Ka-ching!
You did another one? Look at you, I had no idea you were gonna do it again and so soon. I am proud, and the fact that you sold almost everything is even better. Good work!
So did your signs work? I'm afraid I am not enough of an early bird to get the great treasures at yard sales. I would roll in around 11:00 when everything is already gone. We had a neighborhood yard sale a few months ago, and it was a great opportunity to clear some things out of our garage. But my good merchandising seemed to sell the children on all the toys I planned to get rid of!
Good for you. I should have come over and taken advantage of all of your boys "old toys." :-)
Awesome. You have ALMOST inspired me to have another one. Almost.
:-) It's those pesky early birds and $1.00 hagglers that just make them so NOT fun though, ya know?
