I'm a Lover Not a Baker

And if you don't know that that quote I ripped off comes from a Michael Jackson duet with Paul McCartney you are lame-o. Ha! Or I am the lame one for knowing that...hmmm.
Ok, so tonight there was a baby shower for a girl in our neighborhood and I volunteered to bring a "little something. " I was happy to, especially after all the effort that went into my super cute and very fun baby shower that I had in January. But there is uno pequito problemo. There are no decent bakeries around here to pick a little something up at. So I copied Kjersten and made mini pink cupcakes.
This was the mistake. Easy to make right? Noooo..not when I thought I had 2 mini pans and only found 1. So I was baking forever. I had 2 little helpers who kept wanting to "taste test" everything. Eww....no fingers in the bowl mid project por favor! And then those sneaky taste testers kept stealing the cupcakes! They THINK I don't know, but the pink frosting on their faces were giving them away!
I need to work on my baking skills. I think everyone is either a cook or a baker. I am for sure a better cook. I find too that my recipes haven't translated that well from sea level California to higher altitude.
I wasn't planning on this, but they took on a life of their own and ended up looking like little flowers so I went with it. Not sure if they were the best things I've ever tasted, but they LOOKED good. And we all know looking good is the more important part, right?!

First of all, I always describe my Davey as "a lover not a fighter" from that song...so I am glad now that I am not the only one that quotes OLD M.J. songs.

I think the cupcakes are beautiful - and yes, I think that is more important when delivering them to a shower!

Those look delicious. I am bummed I missed out...I had guests at my house and couldn't get away. (It would've been worth it just to taste one of those cupcakes!) Oh, by the way..I'm LOVING the Book Club book. Great choice. I find myself wanting to read every chance I get (which I am making to be quite often, because it's such a good read and I can't wait to find out what's going to happen!)

They look darling...and usually it isn't the kids problem with eating everything while baking, it is my problem! That is why I just can't bake anything yummy anymore.

I loved your mini cupcakes!! I was raving to Heidi about them!! I had no idea there were cupcake wrappers that small. I guess that means I'm cook and not a baker.

They look fantastic! I would have eaten one or 5. OK, so I have the same problem. I too, only own one cupcake pan. Dan laughs at me every time I go to make cupcakes. He has threatened to buy me another for my birthday. Only if it is full of cupcakes...Right?
