Mind Over Belly

I like to be busy. Dan laughs (or rolls his eyes) when I announce a new project. That means I will hunt, research, inquire and shop in a one track mind sort of fashion until I find what I am looking for or have finished what I have set out to do. Call it being OCD if you will, I call it being motivated.
Current problem is that my mind is moving 100 miles a minute with things I would like to get done before LuLu arrives and my belly is not allowing this to happen. I think I will get more done in the evening after kids are in bed. But by then I just want to get cozy and sit.
I really should finish the nursery. It's sort of half done. The thought of shopping now is dreadful (!!!) I would like to de-clutter my house more. I would like to de-junk the basement. I would really love to get rid of maternity clothes from my closet and see what I really have in there without the mess. At least I have my office somewhat taken care of and organized, but I have a list of these little projects and a sense of dread that time is escaping from me as the belly grows larger. Then LuLu will arrive and all I will want to do is snuggle with my baby before she is suddenly 13 and snotty (you know, because what comes around goes around, and I know I've got some serious "coming round" coming back to me.)
I have a friend, Marcy, that I know through church and book club - and her house always looks amazing. It's warm, inviting, personal with her cute pictures everywhere without being overdone or cluttered. I think she has a great sense of style. I was there Tuesday night and then came home and I try to pin point what it is that makes my house not feel "done." Curtains? Photos? What? I couldn't put my finger on it so I just got my pj's on and watched tv for a little while. Let my mind think of the next project while I rest the belly.

don't worry - in a couple of weeks your nesting instinct will hit and you will be in a shopping, organizing, de-junking frenzy. Your house is cute and it looks finished to me, but, I think my house is a work in progress so I know how you feel.

Oh Kristen--you're house is always perfect. I can't wait to see your nursery!!! Just go relax, because once you have 3 kids you won't really care what your house looks like!!!

If we all could be as amazing as Marcy...And your house is darling! And I remember feeling the same way before Peiton, I had to declutter everything, it all had to be cleaned. But let me tell you darling, don't waste your time, cause a week after they are here, it is back to the clutter self again. Relax and have fun...cherish the moments with 2 kids, because three is a whirlwind!

I'm with Natalie- Three kids is a whirlwind but you always are so on the ball, you’re going to be fine. I read your post about Graham starting kindergarten. I can't believe that the boys are already starting school. Just blink your eyes and a whole year will fly by. I’m sad and happy at the same time. It will be fun to start this new and exciting chapter.

Thanks for the complement about my house. I feel the same way whenever I go to one of my friends houses. I always think that there homes are so great and then I get home and think what could I change or do to spice things up a little bit. I think it’s just in our nature to like things that we don’t have. Let me know if you need help with the nursery.
