At the rate I'm going anyhow - that's as soon as I see it happening. I'll admit that the 2 dressers and nightstand have been in my life since I turned 12. Ethan Allen and I have had a steady relationship and I'm not ready to let him go.
We have meant to get a new set with a headboard and matching nightstands but something else always takes the money first and truth be told, our bedroom is SMALL. I mean, I think they used a WAY scaled down bed and a single plant in the model home we walked through. We're talking 11'1 (have to get that inch in there) by 15' folks. With a King bed. Yeah....I know. So any set we buy has got to be smaller and I'm not sure this is the house we'll live and die in so I'm not wanting to buy "the" set right now.
I found 12 yards of perfectly matched to my room gold chenille like fabric at a "Interior Design" yard sale a few weeks ago. (All that means is don't expect bargains when you drive up.) But I got the whole 12 yards for $10!!! What a steal.
So Dan finally cruised the whole long mile over to Lowe's and picked up some plywood and we made a headboard! I'll clear off the laundry and make the bed up all pretty tomorrow so you can see the almost finished project! Here are some of Dan pretending to be happy working on one of my ideas and hints of what's to come!

I have to add that I was in the garage stapling the fabric and a neighbor walked by. For anonymity sake we'll call him Tad. He is the king of all home projects - no man in our neighborhood can keep up to him and the things he does around his house. He asks what I was doing, I tell. Then he asks "Is that SHAG?" I try really hard not to burst out laughing at the thought of putting shag something or other on my headboard. I wish Dan and I were as hip and freaky like that. But we are SO NOT!

I can't wait to see the finished product! You are such a creative gal...Must've been an awesome yard sale;)
Who is this "Thad" guy...I want to look him up! (He sounds hot)!
I mean 'Tad.'
You can spell it anyway you want - he's your hubby!! lol
I can't wait to see it. I still use the dresser I've had since I was a little girl. I love it though. I hope to one day find a headboard that compliments my girlie dresser. I might follow your lead and make my own. You never know.
HUGS
I'm impressed that your husband is so helpful. :)
When you said the handy man in the neighborhood, I knew exactly who you were talking about. Don't we all wish our husband had a little "Tad" in them. Props for Dan for making the headboard...you are Miss creative!
