Baby Shower!

I hosted a baby shower for my sweet friend Camille this last Thursday. She has two boys the same age as my two who are great friends and we have had a lot of fun hanging out with her and her family at all the sports they have played together. Except for baseball - that was not as much fun four nights a week for a few weeks straight!

Camille is having a GIRL!!! I couldn't be more excited for her and I was thrilled to throw her a shower.
Some yummy taffy in a Wal-Mart $3.00 hurricane jar. I hot glued some silk flowers onto a Styrofoam ball to put on top. I decided to leave it out for Valentine's Day.
More cute pink flower balls that I hung from the chandelier. Camille opening up her gifts and Lauren trying to unwrapped all the pretty packages! Some of the yummy food. Raspberry lemonade tarts, chili artichoke dip, eclairs, and I'm sorry to the very sweet girls who helped bring food that I didn't get a picture of the whole table! Especially Leslie whose peanut butter bars were a big hit!
She received so many nice things - now on to the fun part of finishing up her nursery and hanging everything up! I don't know why I like that the best - it's just so fun to see everything PINK in a closet after two boys I think!
I wanted to serve petit fours. They are a favorite of mine and I think they look so pretty on a table. I called so many places around Salt Lake to find - NOTHING! A few places had no idea what I was even talking about which is not what you expect when you call a French bakery. Our town needs a good bakery!
I tried to make them myself. Halfway into pouring the fondant (which I got too hot by the way) I realized this was a disaster in the making. I know when I've met my match and decided to stop. Theses are the few I accomplished. Sad little things. No pretty monogram or rose piped on them. Graham and Greg promptly gobbled them up the next morning though so at least they didn't go to waste and my time wasn't spent for not!

The decorations are beautiful. Your more adventurous than me, I would never even attempt to make those sweet treats. I'm sure it was a fabulous shower regardless.

Have a great day!
Jo

PS ~ You should try the cut. It's really easy to take care of and when I'm ready, growing it out won't be hard.
~ Don't be impressed just yet. Wait until I actually figure out how to use the darn thing. The only reason we have a tripod is because it's my husbands and he actually knows what he's doing! :)

Fabulous baby shower! (Camille went away with some great things for her little girlie).

Oh man! That dessert looks divine...too bad it didn't work out for you. (Along with the sugar cookies. I think you still owe me some of those:)

You're a great hostess and your decorations were truly exquisite. (I love the hanging flowers!)

Love the hot pink flowers! All of the deserts sound yummy. I can't believe not a single bakery new about petit fours!! What a shame. I don't think yours look bad at all, and I'm sure the boys loved them.

It gives me hope to hear of another person to have two boys--then a GIRL! :) Maybe I'll have one more baby....

I have never heard of petit fours, every. They look yummy though. Next time you get the urge to make them, I would love to try:)
It looks like the shower turned out well, I am sad I missed it and sad I missed all the yummy food:(

Hey - I have an old tried and true recipe for petite fours that is from Nena LaBass. I haven't made them myself, but I remember them when she used to make them for the YW...THAT long ago! If you want to try again, let me know.

Next time try buying little debbie cakes or ding dongs they are pretty much the same ingredients and a lot easier. Just unwrap them and display them well.
